For the second half of July we focused our efforts on reaching 2 universities, namely University of Cape Town (UCT) and University of the Western Cape (UWC). We divided the American team in half, Pravani taking one half to UWC and I took the other half to UCT.
The American students had to take big steps of faith. Sharing the gospel using our material, following up with the people they reached, and then taking those South African students to go share their faith on their own campus. The outcome was very encouraging. Christian students got exposure to CCC and are excited about being trained on how to share their faith, while new Christians are learning how to trust God and lean on His Word. Please pray for us as we walk this path with them, that God will grant us His strength and wisdom as we train students on leading spiritual movement on their campuses.
Here are two encouraging stories from the project:
Alvia gave her heart to Christ last week and had begun noticing a change within her heart. Growing up without a dad, she had a lot of resentment towards her mum. This past weekend, the Lord put it on her heart to phone her mum and tell her that she loved her. God has given Alvia a hunger to grow in intimacy with Him and His Word. Since she met Caitlyn (an American student on the CCC project), she has not stopped reading the booklet that Caitlyn used to share Christ with her. “Do you have any more material for me to read? I just want to grow!”, she said to Pravani. Praise the Lord for Alvia and pray for Pravani as she helps her continue her journey with Jesus
On UCT the American students planned an outreach using sign boards they made saying “I Will Listen” They stood at 8 different points on campus listened to whoever came to talk to them. One female student came to Bailey (am American student on CCC project) and asked why she is listening. This student got excited about what Bailey was doing and asked if she could hold a sign up at lunch time. Afterwards I found out that she was trusting God to find an easy way to make a difference on campus. This was an answer to her prayer and she is an answer to our prayer, to find Christian students who want to make a difference on their campus.
Here are the basic statistics of what we accomplished:
|Gospel Conversations||Having a general talk regarding faith||111|
|Gospel Presentation (Using our CCC material)||Getting a person to make a decision for or against Christ||204|
|Prayed to receive Christ||Gave their lives and hearts to Christ||49|
|Spirit-Filled Life Presentation||Shared about living a Holy Spirit directed life||54|
|Follow-up||The amount of people that attended follow-up||16|
I am so encouraged about what God has done using this amazing team. Pray that we can continue the work from the momentum they generated on campus.
